Learning to walk....

This kid was doomed from the beginning. For those of you who know me you know that I can not even walk on a flat surface without finding something to trip on! I have been to the E.R. more then most people should have before they were 10. So in my perpetual clumsiness I have learned what I can and can not do to prevent unwanted cuts and bruises and well falling in general! So watching Trenton learn how to walk is bitter-sweet! I am so proud of him when he lets go of whatever he is holding onto to stand on his own and takes a few wobbly steps toward me, but in the same time I am thinking "No don't let go of that your going to fall!!" and sure enough "down goes the champ" as Benny would say. He has endured many bruises in this new adventure we are going on with him and he has hit everything, from falling face first onto the kitchen floor to big welts on his forehead from the corner of the chair. It kills me seeing him with big alligator tears streaking down his face and thinking that I am never going to put him down again, I am just going to hold him until he is 18 years old and moves out! But then I realize that seeing how excited he gets when he realizes that he is standing on his own without any help makes it all worth the heartache. I really hope that in the future his balance comes from Benny and not me.
